Dear Ms. Greenwald
JIMENA, (Jews Indigenous
to the Middle East and North Africa) is a grassroots advocacy organization
based in San Francisco. We have members around the world. JIMENA’s mission is to advocate and educate
about the history and plight of the Jews indigenous to the Middle East and
North Africa.
Our core goals are:
The Holocaust Memorial Museum’s mission is:
The
Museum’s primary mission is to advance and disseminate knowledge about this
unprecedented tragedy; to preserve the memory of those who suffered; and to
encourage its visitors to reflect upon the moral and spiritual questions raised
by the events of the Holocaust as well as their own responsibilities as
citizens of a democracy.
As a government supported organization, they should hold to their mission and
disseminate knowledge about all the people who suffered by the Nazi’s, not just
the European Jews, but those of color as well.
We
deplore the fact that the Holocaust Memorial Museum has failed after many
requests to document the role Islamic groups played in the Holocaust.
Who
whole heartedly endorse the efforts of Shelomo Alfassa executive director of
the International Society for Sephardic Progress (ISFSP), Holocaust Museum
Watch (hmwatch.org), AMCHA-The Coalition for Jewish Concerns and other groups
to cosponsor the colloquium.
Maurice
Shohet and JIMENA are working together on the International Campaign for Rights
and Redress and we are pleased that he will be presenting his story.
Please
know we support these efforts and let us know how we can continue to further
your work.
Cordially,
Emily L. Blanck
